The Archipelago of the Recherché

The Archipelago of the Recherché or research archipelago. Discovered by Dutch explorers sailing on the “Gulden Zeepaert” meaning Golden Seahorse in 1624, it became the hideout of Australia’s only recorded pirate: Black Jack Anderson. He frequented the islands around 1830 until being murdered by his own crew. In 1991 the Sanko Harvest a bulk carrier of 33,024 tons sank in the archipelago and it became the second largest wreck that can be dived on in the world. Extracted from mix sources
